PIRIN MOUNTAIN
Hospitable but raw, the majestic Pirin Mountain is situated in Southwestern Bulgaria, between the valleys of Struma and Mesta.
It is called the horse because in the old days people had no safety equipment and had to ride it in order to get across.
DESCRIPTION:
On this two day experience you will discover Pirin - one of the oldest mountains in Europe. The last powerful rise happened in the last Ice Age. The remaining ice and glaciers stayed in the deep cirques and created impassable moraines and the crystal blue eyes of Pirin - the mountain lakes.
In the most beautiful, majestic and visited part of Pirin, between the localities Predel and Todorova Polyana lies the Pirin National Park. The park also includes more than 50 marble and granite peaks over 2500 m. Among them is the tallest, Vihren - 2914 meters above sea level, the third highest peak of the Balkan Peninsula. From the rocky peaks to the valleys, the mountain is furrowed by 35 large and small cirques in which lie the 170 glacial lakes. From this tour you can expect to unravel the natural beauty of Bulgaria in its purest form. You will relax and unwind from the busy day to day routine and you will get a decent work out. You can meet some exciting and intriguing people as the mountain itself serves as a screen. The higher you go, the finer it will get.

SCHEDULE:
We prefer to discuss with our guests what they would like to see and experience thus we can tailor to their wants and needs accordingly. It is YOU who decides how far and how fast we go. We have all the necessary equipment to satisfy the most ambitious desires.
Since there are many options on trails and different routes we will inform you what's on during the current season and what activities are recommended. In eather case we have to drive to Bansko (2:30 hrs from Sofia) where we will start our ascend. We recommend a two day trek with a sleepover in one of the lodges or camping overnight. That way you can discover a large part of the mountain without too much hurry. The possibilities and options are only bound to the limits of your imagination.
On our way back to Sofia we can visit the hot spring pools and baths in Dobrinishte or Banya village where we can rejuvinate our body and soul. Price of pool varies between 1,00 - 3,00 euro. Accommodation in lodges costs between 6,00 and 10,00 euro per person per night. Food expense varies individually but 10,00 euro per day should be more than enough to feed big eaters.
DON'T FORGET:
Make sure you bring warm clothes regardless of season, comfortable walking or high above the ancle boots, sunscreen lotion, camera and a smile.
OUR TIPS:
Avoid using new unbroken boots, pack light, bring only what you really need, wear loose clothing, stay well hydrated, stretch, eat strong breakfast prior to hike.
