THE MAGICAL SEVEN RILA LAKES

The Seven Rila Lakes are situated in Northern Rila mountain at an altitude of 2100 - 2500m. They have a glacial origin and possess an inspiring beauty.

DESCRIPTION:

Rila is a mountain range in southwest Bulgaria and the highest mountain range of Bulgaria and the Balkan peninsula, with its highest peak being Musala at 2,925 m. The massif is also the sixth highest mountain in Europe. The larger part of the mountain is occupied by the Rila National Park.

The name Rila is believed to be of Thracian origin and is thought to mean "well-watered mountain", owing to Rila's abundance of glacial lakes (about 200) and hot springs in fault areas at the base of the mountain. Some of the Balkans' longest and deepest rivers originate from Rila, including the Maritsa, the Iskar and the Mesta.

We recommend that you visit one of the most beautiful regions in Bulgaria – the Rila Lakes. Besides the beautiful landscapes you will feel the tranquil vibe of this unique place. When you feel burned out, that’s the place to go! The lakes are visited each year for the paneurhythmyc event by people from all over the world.
Paneurithmia is a system of musical and physical exercises performed in the morning in the open, similar to Thai Chi. Dancers flock from different ends of the world attracted by the magical vibe present only there.

The clean air and water will revive your senses, usually only a couple of hours of sleep there are enough for a good rest compared to six to eight in the city.
